Sparkling Beauty Secret : Do You Know Your Home Ingredients ?

I came across with this beauty tip that was shared on another blog. The tip is very helpful and is one that I have used on myself before. However, I want to share a little bit of my thought on it.

More about the tip : fresh lemon juice can help lighten acne scars.

While this is absolutely true, I would recommend everyone to be extremely careful when using lemon juice and many other ingredients in home made skincare products. Some natural ingredients, such as lemon, are actually light sensitive, and when exposed to sun light, they would tan the skin. If you are thinking about using lemon slices or juice on your skin, I suggest doing it at night time.

This goes true with most whitening products on the market, too. Many ingredients used in these products are also light sensitive, and using them at the wrong time of the day would actually produce opposite effect of what you want. To not have to worry about tanning my face with a whitening product, I only use whitening/brightening products in my night routine.

As a long-term acne sufferer, I know more about acne than most people. It is something that I used to think about all the time. Acne, why it exists, and how I could get rid of it preyed on my mind throughout my teenage years. I read books, newspaper and magazine articles, and trawled the internet, searching for a solution to my acne problem. During my studies, I discovered that acne can be caused by stress, an over-abundance of hormones, or a poor diet. I tried to deal with all three of these causes, yet my acne remained. Sometimes simple lifestyle changes just don’t cut it in the war against acne.
