Are You Ready To Get Dark And Dirty With MAC Volcanic Ash Exfoliator ?
I don't usually follow MAC collections because there are so many of them. But once in a while, some collections will catch my eyes. Style Black is a collection that MAC launched on September 24th, 2009 in the U.S. for the Fall season. This all black collection is very unique and chic. It also includes a few skincare products, Volcanic Ash Thermal Mask ($19.50) and Volcanic Ash Exfoliator ($19.50), which are both re-promotions from previous collections. I took the mask to test, and the result is very decent.
I already did a review on the thermal mask, so please check that out if you are interested. Exfoliator is an essential part of my skincare routine. I use it once per week, and this helps me to achieve that smooth skin. MAC claims that this exfoliator "refines and unclog the skin". The sugar based exfoliating particles are quite moisturizing and melt away after a few scrubs, leaving it much easier to rinse clean the face. It is also not too abrasive, which is good for dry or sensitive skins. The exfoliator leaves the skin super soft and much more smooth than when using other exfoliating products. I also noticed that this product helps to control oil secretion a bit for me. This is probably due to the volcano ash ingredients.

I just reviewed both the mask and exfoliator on my blog too and I have to say I didn't get the same results as you :(. I did think VAE was better than the mask though!

Ohhh I really want to try this but I am determined not to because I know that knowing my luck I will fall in love with it and then I won't be able to get it again once it is discontinued :(
I use a Neutrogena exfoliator which is pretty good! I also like Clinique :)
P.S. I have an award for you on my blog :)

Hi there sis. Thanks for following my blog. I'll be following your blog na rin.
Nice review by the way. MAC volcanic ash sounds interesting, but it I find it too expensive. I just started incorporating facial scrub in my skin care routine. I'm using St. Ives, the one with the ground walnut shells.

Oh! Thanks for visiting my blog and followed, I've now followed yours! =]
Oh thank you for this review, I have the thermal mask and I like it, but the Exfoliator was sold out at one of my local stores, maybe I will go search for 1 available soon.
I used to use St Ives but it turned out to be too abrasive for my skin so I am now in search of a good exfoliator that is not too drying, not too harsh, pore refining, you know, one that makes your face feels smooth and nice and soft. I'm wondering whether i should give this a try. Although... It costs AUD$35 here!! *crying* so expensive for an exfoliator...

Great review. The black colour kind of scares me but if it works. then okay! I agree that the price tag is a bit much and strong scents? That's a no-no for my sensitive nose.

Thank you guys for stopping by, and thanks Sarah for giving me the award.
@Golden: I really like the St.Ives one too. If you don't want to pay this much for an exfoliator, just stick to the St. Ives one because that one is very nice.
@Dana: last time I check, the exfoliator is still avaialble online so may be you can order it that way. And I am planning on doing a detailed post on exfoliators, but if you have sensitive skin, try using a toner with exfoliating ingredients in it so that way you don't have to scrub your skin.
@Lisa: ya, I don't think this would be good for people with sensitive skin or nose because I think the smell is quite strong to me.

I like how it kinda turns into a mask at the end :) I didn't scrub long enough to feel it the first time but definitely the second time! I just can't stand the smell it leaves on my skin so I don't use it much.
